Daily Devotional for December 29

On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives will split apart, making a wide valley running from east to west, for half the mountain will move toward the north and half toward the south. —Zechariah 14:4

The final battle at Jerusalem will be ended by the visible return of Christ. He will descend to the same spot on earth from which He ascended: the Mount of Olives. When His feet touch the earth, the mountain will split, and a river will be opened between the Dead Sea and the Mediterranean. Jesus’ coming will usher in the Millennium, a thousand-year reign of peace on earth administrated by Christ Jesus Himself. Satan will be bound for a thousand years and will not be allowed to “deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years [are] finished” (Revelation 20:3). The Tribulation martyrs will be raised from the dead to join believers in reigning with Christ. In your darkest hour, remember: The Prince of Peace is on His way!
